Friday Link

It's finally Friday! Which means the weekend starts tomorrow and it is a great opportunity for you to read another wonderful children's book to your kids! This weeks selection is entitled, So Many Cats!, by  Beatrice Schenk De Regniers and Illustrated by Ellen Weis Goldstrom.  It is an amazing little story about how a family with an only cat soon acquires a dozen cats! Pick it up this weekend if you can! Your kids will have a blast counting all the new cats they see on each page.-Danielle

Friday Link

Every Friday I will post my favorite children's books from my collection and my mom's collection! (She is a kindergarden teacher and has a great eye for books!) This week I have picked, Hazels Amazing Mother.  This book is very dear to me because every night my mom would read it to me when I was a kid. I thought Hazel's mom was the greatest and she always knew how to make her feel better. (That's what moms do!) If you have children it is a must read and a true classic. -Danielle

A Little Friend

You can now purchase, My Grandma's Journey, as an e-book for your ipad!

It's nice to have friends and sometimes they can make life easier and more manageable. It is one of the reasons why I created the character named Edna Marsh in my book. I have a few Edna Marsh's in my life and I'm sure many of you do to! :)

Edna is eight years old and is extremely fearless and kind hearted. She accepts change and sees new things in life as being fun! (A trait I am trying to learn as I grow older). Edna is from a little village in Jamaica called Chester Castle and comes to the rescue on the ship when my grandma, Evelyn, felt very lonely and scared. She showed her how amazing life could be once you accept change and how much fun it can be. She showed Evelyn how to look for the big dipper, decorate the Christmas Tree on the ship, and how to catch a billion snowflakes on your tongue! Immigrating to a new country was not easy for Evelyn but having a best friend like Edna to share the experience with made it easier.

Do you have a friend like Edna?

Welcome!

I would love to welcome you all to my new blog! I am the founder of A Love of Drawing but have recently started my children's book studio, Little Timeless Tales. Little Timeless Tales was founded in 2012 with the philosophy of creating multi-cultural and educational books for young readers. This blog will feature posts about my books and other educational topics related to children's education and literature.

My first book is entitled, My Grandma's Journey, and tells a story inspired by my grandmother, Evelyn Brissette's, journey from Jamaica. It tells of her adventure on a ship destined to America when she was seven years old, and her special friendship with a girl named Edna Marsh. This book is currently available for purchase on blurb. I hope you will stop by and make it apart of your children's book collection. Thank you! -Danielle
